This position provides operational direction and leadership for Clinical Laboratory and Pathology Services. It is accountable for the ongoing evaluation of unit operations and quality outcomes. Prepares and is accountable for the operational and capital budgets for all areas of responsibility. Ensures the provision of quality care in a timely, cost effective manner. Serves as a link between unit management and executive administration.

Primary responsibilities include the planning, development, evaluation and monitoring of programs and services to provide quality care, the development and fostering of collaborative working relationships with peers, physicians, departments and other team members; the recruitment, selection and performance management of staff, the direction of fiscal activities in order to meet budgetary targets, and the ongoing compliance with regulatory standards.

Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, Microbiology, or Medical Technology
Minimum five years' demonstrated management experience in an acute hospital laboratory setting.
Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) registration preferred.
Experience in all phases of laboratory work.
Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of CAP, AABB, JCAHO accreditation requirements.
Proficiency in computer applications.
